A sincere thank-you to all the speakers, delegates and sponsors that made the inaugural PVCellTech conference in Kuala Lumpur a resounding success! The quality of the presentations, discussions and feedback on the event went way beyond our initial expectations and PVCellTech is set to become a key part of the solar industry’s events calendar going forward. Our original aims for PVCellTech were to provide a forum specifically for real-world c-Si solar cell manufacturing, having CTOs and R&D leaders from the top-20 cell producers on the stage talking about the challenges and opportunities in improving the performance of solar cells. It became clear quickly that this group of specialists had to be complemented with the key equipment and materials suppliers to the industry, in addition to the PV research labs that were pivotal to new processes being implemented in mass production.
The most important take-away from the event is that there are still many different ways to move cell efficiency and performance forward, whether this is p-type multi or n-type heterojunction. This alone is certain to drive all cell manufacturers to invest even more in R&D and new technology upgrades, while looking at the optimum cell technology to deploy in the new cell factories 2-3 years from now.
PVCellTech will return to Penang, Malaysia in March 2017 and we look forward to all of you coming back next year and making it such a huge success once again.
